Twisters spins onto the cover of Total Film magazine – on sale now!
The director and cast talk about putting a fresh spin on a '90s disaster classic
Twister was one of the defining disaster films of the '90s, featuring pioneering VFX, cool character actors and relentless big-screen spectacle. It was an enormous box-office hit, but, surprisingly, it’s taken the best part of three decades for another film in that world to materialise.
Twisters - a ‘new chapter’ in the series that follows an entirely new set of storm-chasing characters - is storming into cinemas in 2024, and it's coming to the cover of the new issue of Total Film. Offering throwback thrills paired with cutting-edge VFX and a hot new cast, Twisters is directed by Minari Oscar-nominee Lee Isaac Chung and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos. The movie promises to celebrate science, hit the nostalgic feels *and* throw viewers right into the centre of a tornado.
Elsewhere in the issue, you’ll find a deep-dive into the minds of the filmmakers behind Inside Out 2, as Total Film visits the animation powerhouse to get the inside scoop on the emotionally charged sequel. Austin Butler and Jodie Comer discuss their ultra-cool motorcycle drama, The Bikeriders, and Vicky Krieps pulls no punches talking about her incredible career choices to date.
Plus, there are new looks at Alien: Romulus, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, MaXXXine, and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, and when it comes to anniversary celebrations, Alfonso Cuarón and David Heyman reflect on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ahead of its 20th anniversary, and Joe Dante and Michael Finnell look back on the chaos of Gremlins at 40. And of course, there’s all the news, reviews and regulars you expect.
And as part of our new subscriber offering, if you sign up for a subscription, you’ll get instant access to the new issue in digital form – as well as a massive archive of more than 10 years’ worth of digital issues to explore. Meaning you can go back and check out recent cover stories like Furiosa, The Fall Guy, and Dune: Part Two, or head even further back to revisit features and interviews from more than a decade ago.
